My father has come to know the Lord for about one and a half months.  I want to thank the Lord for His goodness and grace to my father inspite that his condition is not so good as before.  He listens to christian messages and songs through cassette tapes.

Truly God is merciful and gracious to my dad for giving him salvation.  I would like to share this testimony to encourage those who are praying for the salvation of their loved ones, to persevere on faithfully in prayers.

Both my parents were deep in their idol and ancestor worship.  My dad was very against christianity because he thought that christianity is a western religion and he was not open to the gospel at all.  My dad is a man of great pride and stubborness.  He used to be very active and outgoing, a "happy go lucky" type of person.

All these years I have been praying for his salvation but I must confess that at times I was indeed lacking faith and thought it was impossible to convince him.  I kept claiming God's promise in His Word, Lk1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."

My father had his first stroke 3 yrs ago and his left hand was paralysed.  He couldn't accept it and he went into depression.  He gave up totally and refused to do anything, even to the extend of not attending the therapy sessions.  He shut himself up at home, refused to meet up with friends and talk.  His condition deteriorated very fast, from depression to dementia.  All this time, God has been good to my dad in keeping his dementia at the beginning stage where he could still have his sense of understanding.  It was during this time my colleague invited the pastor of the cantonese service of Zion BP church to share the gospel with him.  He has a receptive heart and listened and for the first time I saw him so open to the gospel even though he did not make a response then.  I knew it was the Lord working in him breaking his stubbornness and pride. The Lord has taught me patience and compassion all these years and to persevere on in prayers by faith.

This August, my dad has a second stroke and was warded in hospital again.  I thanked the Lord for sending brothers and sisters from the church to visit him, share God's Word with him and praying for him.  My dad was encouraged and through this illness and suffering, the Lord has brought him closer to Him. In His perfect timing, the Lord has answered my prayers and the prayers of those who prayed for him. My dad accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour on Tuesday 27 Aug 2002 and was baptised by Rev. Charles Seet in the hospital on Friday 6 Sept 2002. We prayed and the Holy Spirit did the rest.  To me, it's a miracle.  Praise the Lord.  All thanks and glory be to God.  Truly God hears and He answers prayers.  Let us continue to persevere in prayer for the salvation or our unsaved loved ones.
